thanks for tuning in to sawdust and wood today i'm going to teach you how to take any board it could be a 2×6 it could be a sheet of plywood whatever you want and i'm going to teach you how to accurately cut it or measure for strips let's say you want to split a two by six into five equal pieces to cut it i'm gonna show you how you can do that without any math and it will save you time and headache on the job site let's get to it all right we got a four by six so we know that a four by six the width of it is five and a half inches now let's say you need to split this in half and you don't you don't want to sit here and try to divide five and a half by two you can put your tape on here and if you go to like six a whole number that you can make a multiple of two with you just mark three and that's going to be the center point of the board you can measure and see that two and three quarters and two and three quarters now if you want to make multiples of three on this board pull your tape and i could go over to let's see i could go to nine just like that then i can mark the three and the six now let's say you want to cut four strips on the board do multiples of four you get your tape put it on eight mark your two mark your four mark your six and you just want to draw these lines over and this will be everything will be divided into four pieces perfectly and that's what anything you want to do five pieces you go by ten and you do the same thing you go two four six eight so that's one two three four five that's it thanks for watching today and if you need to cut any board into multiple strips without doing the complicated math on the job site this is a very quick and extremely accurate way to do it thanks for watching please hit that subscribe button like it and share for more videos thank you have a great day
