[Applause] hey guys today I'm gonna be testing out a new driveway alert system the current one that I have right now which is from company called mighty mule and it's a pretty cheap one I had a lot of good reviews on Amazon it was only about 60 60 or 70 dollars but after about six months it's totally stopped working now I used to work about half the time so I ordered this one and let's open this up and see what we have here I lost my pocket knife for the second time this week so I have to use this this driveway alert is from Dakota alarm I think is what you have Dakota alert I'll put a link in the description for this model there's one thing I hate these batteries pulling these things are really expensive especially if you go buy them at the store like they're basically six bucks apiece at the store usually I had these in my Arlo home security system or a camera system I should say at my old house and man it just burned through them and I found the best thing was to order more Fama's on in bulk I thought this took double-a but anyway these batteries are horrible so here's the receiver nice and simple clean in the transmitter one thing that I'm hoping will help is that this one has this is the magnetic probe and this has a 50 foot cable on it which is much longer than the one that came on the mighty mule and you can see we've got power on the Pew can see it on the video or not so the next thing I've got to do is go take the receiver inside plug it in and then pair the two then I'll take the probe out to the driveway and make sure we're getting a signal this says that this will receive a signal up to a mile away like I said I think the mighty mule says that it will receive a signal from up to 450 foot somewhere somewhere between 400 and 500 foot but let's get this inside so this won't be its permanent location but this so let me get it paired up and then I'll test it yeah pretty light they're pretty but anyway I get it started here and then I'll go test it eventually where it will be permanently so it tells me to hold the mode button for three seconds and then after all the lights flash release the button and push the volume button until I get the tone that I want [Applause] [Music] [Music] and then the next thing is to activate [Applause] by pressing that button right there let's take this part yes I know let's say this part up to the driveway real quick okay so right here is where the current one this is where the current probe shoots across and the transmitter the the line is so short on the mighty mule that the transmitter is right here and I need the transmitter to be on the other side of these bushes which this will solve hopefully so I'm going to attach the transmitter to this tree right here and then we're going to toss the probe over these bushes okay let's toss the probe let's toss the probe again it's trying to throw a gentle and basically all the wire hung up right when I threw it the reason I went with this alarm with the probe was because if I'd have used a motion detector that wouldn't work out here because you'd be wickedness out in the middle of the night because deer would be setting it off what a toss what a toss I gotta have that cable okay let me come back fast like a ninja so that worked perfect the main one of the main issues with the mighty mule even when it worked like lighting it's horrible I can't fix it anyway with the mighty mule is if you were going over two miles an hour it never registered it never sent a signal if someone's going to only bike big delivery trucks would it register if a car came creeping in it would let let me know but anything other than that nothing so so far this is very promising here's where the old mighty mule transmitter was and I actually buried that probe underneath the driveway I'm not going to bury this one underneath the driveway because this one seems to have the strength beside the driveway and and in fact it says if you have a single driveway just bear it beside it so that's what I'm gonna do [Music] [Applause] [Music] I [Music] so the fun part will be I've seen how many ticks I got only doing this cuz I know they're in here cuz I got one on me yesterday zucchini ticks on you let's load up let's do one more test now that it's buried now that's bury don't wanna do a high-speed pass and then I'll know it works perfect alright storm you know what hang out the window and holler or anything like that just go chill okay so I've tested this multiple times high-speed passes low-speed passes within the last 30 minutes and it's worked flawlessly far surpasses what the mighty mule would do this cost about $200 more than the mighty mule but who cares if you're saving money if it's useless this works I'll let you know how it works in six months if you like this video guys give me a thumbs up and a subscribe and I'll see you next time
