How to Install a Wall Hung Vanity. Owner Builder Series, Ep.51

get out knuckleheads uncle knackers here and welcome to episode 51 of my owner build of series and in this episode I'm going to show you how I install a wall hung vanity I love those vanities they look good and they also give the illusion of space so in my book that's two big ticks that's looking good can't wait see it installed installing the wall turn vanity can be really tricky especially if you're doing it by yourself because it doesn't go down to the floor so you make a better support it while you're attach it to the wall so the method job is yeah done is I make this support a small pine scraps that I had lying around this is built to the correct height so all I need to do is to get my vanity place it on top of this frame it's then fully supported and that gives me the flexibility to move it around from side to side and do what I need to attach it to the wall it's a good technique give it a go now with the bad deep fully supported by that framework and now it makes it so much easier to be able to position it get it nice and level cut the holes in the back to the pipe work and then secure harder against those tiles to easy once you've got your baggy sitting exactly we want it to go first thing you need to do is to level up you may need to adjust that if you do just put is on top of that frame on either end get that nice and level then you're ready to mark out the position of your pipe work on the back of the vanity you can see the pipes coming out of the wall behind the bounty all I do is get my tape measure measure down to each pipe find out what that measurement is to the top of the vanity and then transfer that line across the front market and then drill those holes and just pull the vanity back a little bit away from those pipes so that we don't drill through the pipe when we go through the back of the bounty you can move the whole Vangie place it on the ground and do it but this is so heavy that I can't get it back up onto the stand by itself so I'm Ligia on the stand and doing everything instituted and drill these holes now let's kick this last hole drill alrighty now hopefully fingers crossed this should slide back on those pipes and there you have it now that turned out absolutely spot-on it all we need to do is to attach the banding to the wall and likely before this will shake it I marked there on a plan exactly where the studs are on this wall so I can simply just drilled the into that stud work and it's also a good idea as well as making our plan but take a few photos that way you know exactly where all the pipe work is as well because you don't want drilling through those water pipes no you don't now before I attach this to the wall with the screws I just want to mark out the corners of some tape just like this so exactly where the band is going to be going because I'm going to pull the battery out from the wall so that I can put some silicon behind this to help secure it so when I put it back against the wall these pieces of tape me up will show me exactly where I want the vanity to go pull out that gun get a rag and clean off all that dry it up Brett could you want the silicon that stick directly to the tile and not to the powdery dry grass that's pretty good down there that's it and now look down still again just put on some tie and a second just put some dogs of silicon right along top sides and in the middle outside seriously once this gets screwed to the wall it's not going anywhere fraction walls I'm getting I don't you shy with the silicon nice big boss right here I can slide the band back to the wall lining up with these marks have tape marks that is beautiful now all you need to do is drill the holes press stud work and screw this to the tiles so first of all I'm just going to drill turn the vanity using a would be that Willis bug there let's start here and start over here okay now pick my masonary what two sizes here wanted it's more go through that first just want to go through the vanity the tile and the billboard behind the tile and that's it and that's it if I was putting it up folk I put one more drill bit in there just make it the right size with the hole drilled I just want to do a bit of can't see like that put in my Phillips head bit and then it screw to the stud behind the tiles and that is beautiful and you see how the silicon is squeezing out behind the Banting that is absolutely spot-on now let's repeat that process on each stud now I have to say that it can be just a little bit scary doing it you just don't want to drill through a pipe no matter how much planning you've done you've always got back in the back of your head or back of your mind do a marketeer properly well maybe that's just me now if you're not sure you put a bit of tape on your drill bit the depth of your vanity tile and billboard that way you won't draw through too far another screw yeah now to get the screws in the same line down the bottom just use the square or level remember if you go right down the bottom you're not going to get a pipe up the top not going to hit a pipe and then the bottom not going to get a fire this is where all the pipe action is across here to this steer clear or putting any screws in that sort of area now let you get across the top just do the same down bottom now because there isn't a stud on the corner or the edge of the vanity I'm just going to use some plastic plugs now it's exactly the same deal as before we drill through the band you first then put a Mason obediently go through the tiles and then insert our or plug now taking the drawers out for easier access now masonary bed see I'm going to go one more size up with their masonary bit now all you have to do is to get your six and a half mil plastic plug and just tap it into the hole then I use another one just to drive it in a touch and then you can countersink the hole if you wish you don't have to why does go looks don't care that looks don't do it and then all you have to do is put your Philips head back in and insert your screws and that is now done repeat back down the bottom and AB and E is now secured to the wall now that was pretty easy wasn't it now as far as the top goes don't put it on yet until the plumbers been in and touched all these pipe work because it makes it easier for him to do that rather than getting under it and do all the work you do it on top and I put a vanity top on just place it on top and then get inside and run a bead of silicone along the inside edge now hold it in beautifully and that is he'll install vanity great tip there yeah yeah that well I hope you enjoyed and found that video useful now it's per usual a big thumbs up is greatly appreciated and you haven't already please hit that subscribe button for more handy tips alrighty I'm off for a cup to settle next time I'm in here geez just one more quick thing before I move on if you want to put the top down before the plumber gets there you can there's no hard and set rule say Matt jacquard it
